Provides specialized health information, knowledge and skills to various community groups and the public. Community health worker, problem-solving, skills and resourcefulness, knowledge of community-based programs and service, empathy and compassion for community members, strong organizational and time-management skills, Must be English bilingual/Spanish. Will perform other duties as assigned. Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License and comply with company policy.
Note: It is mandatory that all Houston Health Department Temporary Employees are REQUIRED to be current on their vaccinations. Upon your initial visit to Employee Health, expect to receive a Tuberculosis Skin Test, administration of vaccines that are not up to date, and blood work if needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE: Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Education, Behavioral Science or a closely related field such as Public Health
EXPERIENCE: No experience is required. Directly related professional experience in Public Health, Education or a closely related field may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
WORKING CONDITIONS
PHYSICAL EFFORT: The position occasionally requires stooping or bending. Occasional very light lifting, such as three or four reams of papers or books (up to 20 pounds or an equivalent weight) may be required
WORK ENVIRONMENT: There are no major sources of discomfort, i.e., essentially normal office environment with acceptable lighting, temperature and air conditions
PHYSICAL SKILL: Requires the ability to make simple gross motor responses within large tolerances.
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 PM to 5:00 PM
